Partnering with local businesses to provide students with practical knowledge and experience.

At Kenvale College, we partner with industry and businesses that provide our students with the opportunities to gain practical knowledge and experience in their areas of study. Our industry connections have been developed and nurtured through many decades, and span across a wide range of hospitality brand names, such Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, IHGICC Sydney, and Fresh Catering to name a few. By doing this, we are able to link students with the right opportunity based on their interests and individual personalities.

On the other hand, as we align our teaching to meet the needs of the hospitality and tourism industry, we therefore contribute to the knowledge of the hospitality industry and help shape the future hospitality leaders of our nation. As a result, a Kenvale graduate will be at the forefront of the hospitality industry, and will definitely be part of the next generation of hospitality managers.

It is a requirement of all Kenvale College courses to gain work experience in the hospitality and events industry. The number of hours required depends on the course being undertaken. Students who elect to study in one of our two-year programs are required to work 1,600 hours in approved hospitality or events establishments.

We are extremely proud to have helped thousands of students become industry professionals over the last five decades. Connecting with the industry throughout this time, we continue to adapt our courses to reflect the changing needs of the hospitality industry.

Your typical study week at Kenvale includes:

2 – 3 days of classes + approximately 20 hours of paid work experience.

How does the Industry Placement (IP) work?

This practical component runs concurrently with classes. Students attend college for two days a week and then complete their work placement in the remaining part of the week. Most students work an average of 20 hours per week throughout the year. The number of hours worked each week depends on the course you choose to study.

Our Industry Liaison Manager assists in the procuring of a suitable placement free of charge in the first year at college.

Students typically work in a suitable establishment that offers one or more products or services listed below:

  • Accommodation
  • Food and Beverage
  • Function and Catering
  • Meetings, Events, Conventions, Conferences, Seminars

Students will most likely be offered an entry level position in their first year.

All independent student placements need to have prior approval by the college.
